Used standard 4 X 8 styrofoam insulation
Onions I planted Jan. 18. Some are starting to bulb. Garlic is the longer leaf plants towards the
back of the row. Garlic planted Mid Sept. Ready in June.
Strawberries I planted Jan. 20. Picked my first yesterday. The deer netting is to keep the birds out.
Strawberries in front, and cantalope, and Israeli melons in back.
More onions, spinach in grey box, and 2 tomato's in Earth box.
More tomato's, and my daughter's, and sister's plots to the right. They live in N.W. Austin
and they have too many trees, and hills to grow veggies so I have a community garden of sorts.
More tomato's in front garden.
I recently planted these two flower beds. The rose bush in front bed is
a re-planted rose bush that was on the patio where the EB is now. It was planted in a wooden Whiskey
barrel. The barrel was old, and falling apart so I thought I would move it. The problem is that the main
root grew out of the barrel, and into the mater bed. I cut the root, and re-planted the rose bush.
The plant is in shock right now, and the leaves look puny. I hope it survives!!
Assemble parts w/ the water tube facing you. Those two cut-outs are wicking chambers.
Fill wicking chambers with potting mix. Push the mix down in wicking chambers firm, and water in.
Fill box roughly 1/2 full w/ potting mix. Add 1/2 of the package of dolomite, and mix in w/ fingers.
Water potting mix w/ watering can. You can't over water because the water will fall to the bottom.
Add the rest of the potting mix,and rest of dolomite mix in, and water. Make a trough roughly 2" deep in front of box. Hard to see here.
Fill trough w/ fertilizer as shown.
Put cover on white side up in Texas, Black side up in the colder areas.
Using sharp knife cut an X where you want to plant your mater plant. Dig out a hole deeper
that the root ball. Just push aside the potting mix.(keep it in the box). Plant your mater
plant deep. Water in from top this one time. All other waterings need to be through
the fill tube until the water comes out of the drain hole in the bottom. I only planted one mater plant
in this box. You can put two mater plants in the box if you want to,
